The Hospital Alliance of Tennessee (HAT) was formed in 1982 to
represent the interests of not-for-profit, governmental and public
hospitals in the State Legislature, governmental agencies and the
executive branch. HAT now represents 65 not-for-profit hospitals
throughout Tennessee. HAT develops strategies and positions for
a membership that shares common interests and objectives. Acting
as a united voice for not-for-profit hospitals, HAT takes an aggressive
role in representing its members' interests on issues like TennCare
reform, certificate of need revisions and threats to tax-exempt
status.
HAT's members are not-for-profit community hospitals that are both
private and government health care facilities ranging from small
rural hospitals to major teaching and research facilities. Membership
is open to Tennessee hospitals that are organized as a 501C (3)
or are government-owned.
